Bakalar Recital Hall is the heart of Brookline Music School – a place where students find their voice, families gather, and our community comes together in appreciation for music. This project enables us to create the performance experience our community deserves – one that inspires our students and places performance at the center of our music education process.
The Bakalar Recital Hall Campaign will expand our beloved recital hall to provide more flexible performance space, increase audience capacity, and improve visibility while retaining the timeless beauty of the historic Kennard House.
This project addresses key concerns that limit our ability to gather and share our artistry to the fullest. The staging area currently offers little flexibility for our growing chamber and jazz ensemble programs, and the space accommodates a capacity of sixty-five, with several rows of seating creating poor sight-lines and limited accessibility.
Designed for Performance. Built for Community.
The project will expand the hall to 1,465 square feet. The open floor-plan will allow for greater versatility, better serving our ensemble programs. The added space will double seating capacity and allow for fewer rows with improved visibility.
