Faculty Forte – The Music of South India with Kavita Shankar

Violin faculty member Kavita Shankar gives an interactive introduction to Carnatic music, the rich musical tradition of South India. Participants will learn the basics of singing in Carnatic solfege, explore the concept of Thala, which governs rhythm and meter, and will learn to sing an actual song from the Carnatic repertoire.
