Faculty Forte – Spontaneous Composition: An Intro to Creating Jazz from Scratch with Andy Voelker

with Andy Voelker

Prolific jazz performer and composer Andy Voelker will engage participants in the real-time exercise of creating an original jazz composition. Students will contribute actively to the process, learning about and applying such concepts as harmony, form, and texture—as they create a wholly original piece of music. This workshop aims to inspire musicians to take ownership of their own ideas, and to apply this creativity to future musical endeavors and performances.
