Alexander Technique

Adults & Teens

Adult Alexander Technique

In these classes, adult students learn tools to change habitual patterns of tensions, find freedom of movement, and ease and joy in performing. This class is ideal for musicians, actors, dancers, and athletes to perform at their best. It is an experiential class, with awareness exercises, readings, hands-on work, performances, and Active Rest. It is especially suited to address performance anxiety issues.  This class is designed as a year-long course; however, students may join the class in the Spring term with the instructor’s permission.

Teen Alexander Technique

In this class, students learn to notice when tension is restricting their freedom of movement and impeding their physical, emotional, intellectual, and artistic performance.  They are taught body awareness, freedom of movement, and confidence in performing.  Teenagers are often under acute pressure; this class helps students to learn to recognize and replace negative body habits with healthy alternatives.  This class is a fourteen-week program, but students are welcome and encouraged to enroll for both the Fall and Spring  Semesters.  New students are also welcome to enroll in the Spring.
