Teaching Philosophy

I find music to be one of the most deeply humanistic things that exists. Music exists in all of us, and it is something that we can all access, and that we have a human right to access and embrace it. In Early Childhood, I believe music is imperative for social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. It plants a seed that has the possibility to cultivate a world of opportunity and connection. In my musical classroom, I strive to give children the agency to create and lead, and that there are moments where I can take on the role of the student. What new creative ways may this child activate this instrument? What kind of animal, object, place do they associate it to? Working with children constantly challenges my creativity, and I find that there is not a finite amount of experience I can gain through working with them.

Biography

Milo is a vocalist, chorister, multi-instrumentalist, neurodiverse-inclusive musician, and early childhood music educator in the Boston area. A child of two classical musicians, music has informed their character and spirit their entire life.
While performance has captivated them for as long as they can remember, they have discovered an undeniable passion for Early Childhood music, education, and working with neurodivergent children to nurture their musical identity. Milo has been working as a Programmatic Music Assistant at Roman Music Therapy services. In this role, under fruitful supervision of brilliant MT-BCs, they lead school-based early childhood group music sessions, group home music sessions, and universal music events; guided with the philosophy that the “music is enough”. In addition to this role, Milo has recently begun the school year at The Croft School in JP as the Young Years Music Teacher, working with students in Preschool, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten.
As a vocalist and chorister, Milo has engaged in Baroque and Oratorio, Anatolian Folk and Rock, and American Folk music, Klezmer music, New-Age Improvisation, and Musical Theater throughout Boston and New England. Their credits include the Boston Symphony Orchestra Tanglewood Festival Chorus, Handel+Haydn Society CitySing, Connecticut Doctor’s Orchestra, Vermont Arts Exchange, Bennington Museum Concert Series, Carriage Barn Music Series, several Bennington College music ensembles, Meredith Monk’s “Celebration Service”, Springville Center for the Arts and Education, and Hubbard Hall Center for the Arts and Education.
Milo is excited to see where their early childhood career and professional vocal career continue to lead them, and how the two may intersect down the line.
