Summer Piano Safari
Age 4-6
Piano Safari Friends (Pre-K/Kindergarten beginners)
Piano Safari Friends introduces children in Pre-K and Kindergarten to the piano, in collaborative classes which lay the foundation for successful piano study. Through rote playing, improvisation, and follow-the-leader pieces, as well as movement, singing and rhythm patterns, children will learn the layout of the keyboard, diatonic note letter names, and piano technique, while continuing to strengthen their music development.
Piano Safari Level 1 (Kindergarteners who have completed Piano Safari Friends, Beginning First Graders)
This summer class is an introduction to our group piano program for beginners entering the 1st grade in the fall, and also for children who were enrolled in Piano Safari Friends class during school year ’24-25. As with Piano Safari Friends, this class over the course of the school year combines rote playing, improvisation and technique exercises, while introducing students to reading first through finger numbering and directional reading, and finally reading on the staff.
To register for this summer class for children entering Kindergarten in the fall (child must have been enrolled in Piano Safari Friends during school year ’24-25), please email our registrar at registrar@bmsmusic.org. For beginners entering grade 1 in the fall, you can register directly on the website.
