Daniel Martinez del Campo

Teaching Philosophy

My priority as an instructor is to help every individual student forge a pathway towards their unique musical goals, while illuminating and cultivating the universal and foundational elements of music that are present in every style. Music is a vehicle of self exploration and expression that that every musician builds a personal relationship with. By providing students with technical tools and practical musical framework, I want to encourage the endless potential for musical expression and personal growth that students can develop through their studies.

Biography

With a diverse interest and ability on the guitar, Daniel Martinez del Campo is a Berklee College of Music alumnus, holding a degree in guitar performance and has studied various styles including jazz and chord soloing under John Baboian and Jack Pezanelli, progressive rock under Jon Finn and neoclassical metal under Joe Stump.

Forging a special interest in heavy music, he has performed and toured internationally with a variety of notable acts, including the Atheist, At the Gates, Vitriol, and Fright Pig. In addition to pursuing a career as a performing and recording artist, he has worked as an independent music transcriber and music educator, working with students just starting on the guitar, as well as fine tuning professional guitarists. Daniel also maintains an ongoing role as the Operations Coordinator at the Berklee Institute for Accessible Arts Education, an institute that provides arts education programs to individuals with disabilities.

Daniel has transcribed for the publishing company Sheet Happens Music, releasing various transcription books for metal and rock bands, including Revocation, Volbeat, and Christian Muenzner. Currently, he transcribes for TrueFire, one of the world’s largest online guitar lesson libraries and has transcribed over 150 courses featuring a variety of world-class guitar instructors of all styles of music.

Drawing from a variety of ongoing experiences in the worlds of performance, academics, and education, Daniel hopes to share his love for guitar playing and music, to inspire students to pursue and explore the depths of their connection to the instrument.
