Ages 5-8
Recorder Explorers introduces students to the fundamentals of music while teaching them to play pieces suited to or specifically written for the recorder. This engaging class offers a comprehensive approach to learning this versatile instrument.
In this program, students will:
- Develop proper breathing and fingering techniques
- Learn to read musical notation
- Play a variety of recorder-specific pieces
- Explore basic music theory concepts
- Gain confidence in group performance
- Build a foundation for future wind instrument study
The small class size (maximum of six) allows for considerable individualized instruction while enjoying the benefits of playing in a group setting.
Term I focuses on foundational skills, while Term II expands to more advanced techniques and repertoire, providing a thorough introduction to the recorder.
Recorder Explorers is designed to nurture musical growth in a fun, interactive environment. This class serves as an excellent starting point for young musicians, with the option to continue with private recorder lessons or explore other wind instruments such as flute, clarinet, oboe, or saxophone after one year.
