Teaching Philosophy

My ambition is for every student to learn to experience, appreciate, and fall in love with music by understanding the pieces and stories behind the composition in addition to learning the techniques needed to play it.

I tailor classes to the level and interest of each student in order to select the right combination of pieces that they will want to play, with pieces that can challenge them. We set short and long-term goals to motivate and advance their skills and look for opportunities to expand the student’s appreciation of music in order to elevate their confidence and ability to present and perform their work.

Aside from the technical aspects of playing the piano, my classes may also include exploring music theory, ear training, and an introduction to singing, solfege, and basic elements of conducting. Each student will come to understand the context of the piece they are playing: the musical style, the art period, and political events that may have influenced the composer. We will read and learn together about the composer and try to understand the motivations of composition behind the music.

Every student is unique and I respect the pace of each one. The journey to master the piano is not an easy one, but in time, with self-discipline, patience and positive support, anyone can attain a great level of musicianship.

I strongly believe in the impact music has on the world and on individuals in their everyday lives. Music has always been with me since a very young age. It has brought lots of joy into my life, and the piano is and will forever be my best companion.

I wish for all my students to embark on the same positive and meaningful musical journey I have been blessed with.

Biography

Caroline, a Paris-born pianist with over 20 years of teaching experience, has cultivated her musical career across France, Israel, and the United States. Her journey began at age 6, and by 13, she had already won a piano duet competition for Radio France. After completing her studies at the local conservatory, Caroline graduated from the Ecole Nationale de Musique de Creteil, PARIS – Val de Marne in 1994, before earning her piano performance degree at the Rubin Music Academy of Jerusalem.

As an educator, Caroline has taught piano, music theory, and solfege at all levels in leading music conservatories. She also introduces young children to musicals through specialized classes. For advanced students, she shares efficient warm-up techniques learned from a student of Alfred Cortot, connecting her teaching lineage to Fryderyk Chopin.

Caroline’s performance career spans solo, duet, and chamber music. Her encounter with renowned opera singers Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna in France led her to voice coaching, accompanying singers in concerts internationally. In Israel, she embraced diverse musical styles, performing Argentinian Tango with the band “Tango Bar” on the popular TV show “Taverna.”

After moving to the US in 2011, Caroline continued coaching opera and Broadway singers while performing solo and in chamber music settings. In California, she produced and directed family concerts, combining her passion for music with her classical dance background by collaborating with ballet dancers.

Now settled in Boston since Summer 2020 with her husband and three children, Caroline enjoys sharing her knowledge and joy of music with the vibrant Brookline community and its surroundings, continuing her mission of bringing the love of piano and music to students of all ages and levels.
