Teaching Philosophy

My primary goal as a teacher is to share my love for music with my students. By engaging students in a fun and stimulating way, I aim to provide a supportive and challenging environment for learning. I enjoy helping students gain a sense of confidence and achievement from learning their instrument.

Biography

Stephanie Fong is a versatile violinist with a distinguished career encompassing orchestral performance, chamber music, and music education. Her teaching experience is extensive, serving students of all ages and levels. She has held faculty positions at numerous prestigious institutions and festivals, including Center Stage Strings, Peaks to Plains Suzuki Institute, San Francisco Conservatory Prep Division, Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra, and the University of Michigan. As an experienced chamber music coach, Stephanie has nurtured the talents of countless young musicians.

In her performance career, Stephanie regularly appears with world-class ensembles such as the Boston Symphony Orchestra and San Francisco Symphony. Her chamber music engagements are equally impressive, having performed with Boston-based Mistral, the Alianza String Quartet, and the Phoenix String Quartet. As a member of the Kailas String Quartet, she achieved top honors at the Fischoff Chamber Music Competition.

Stephanie’s musical journey has taken her to renowned festivals across the country. She has performed at the Skaneateles Festival, Monadnock Festival, Rockport Festival, Aspen Music School and Festival, Tanglewood Music Festival, and Yellow Barn Music School and Festival. These diverse experiences have contributed to her well-rounded approach to music-making and teaching.

Through her multifaceted career, Stephanie Fong continues to inspire both students and audiences, bridging the worlds of performance and education with her expertise and passion for music.
