TEACHING ARTIST - CELLO (Suzuki training pref.)

Brookline Music School (BMS) seeks a Teaching Artist in CELLO to begin immediately. Applicants must be comfortable teaching private students of varied abilities, experience levels, and goals, ranging in age from 6 years to adult. Suzuki teacher training, or other experience teaching beginners younger than age 6 is highly valued. Teaching takes place at our main Kennard House location, with additional after-school instruction in various Brookline Public and Private School partner locations.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have teaching availability on minimum two days per week during the school year. Some weekend availability is a plus.
  • Be passionate and committed to growing and sustaining a long-term cello studio on 2-3 weekly teaching days through goal-oriented pedagogy and strong commitment to student performance opportunities.

  • Suzuki teacher certification is highly valued at present, as BMS aims to rebuild a strong cello cohort by offering rigorous and well structured pedagogy to beginners as young as age 4. A teacher with genuine enthusiasm and energy for teaching this age group is most preferred for this position.

  • Display exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, essential in representing the school and clearly communicating assignments and practice expectations to students and their families.

An undergraduate degree in cello performance is required; a graduate degree or the equivalent—demonstrated through teaching and performing experience—is preferred, along with Suzuki certification. EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC TEACHER

Brookline Music School (BMS) see­ks an EARLY CHILDHOOD MUSIC TEACHER to teach parent/child music classes on Sunday mornings, for babies and young children up to age 4. We are looking for a teacher who can start fall ’25. There are between 28-32 weeks of classes per year (incl. fall, winter, spring, and optional summer term)

The successful applicant will be:

• Warm, playful, creative, and energetic

• Strong vocal, and musical skills

• Interested in child development and working with our youngest learners. 

• Comfortable leading a group 

• Detail oriented, and willing to learn songs/material for classes

• Available to teach on Sunday mornings

GROUP PIANO TEACHER

Brookline Music School is seeking a group piano teacher to join our Piano Safari (group piano) faculty in fall ’25. Piano Safari is a group piano class for children 4-6 years of age. For teachers not yet trained in the Piano Safari program, BMS will provide on-line training, as well as ongoing curriculum support. We are hoping to find a teacher who can train for the program this spring or summer and start teaching in fall ’25. Must be able to teach on Saturdays, and this could be combined with some weekday classes should teacher wish.
 
Successful candidate will:
  • have experience with teaching piano (beginning level is fine)
  • be familiar with teaching kids as young as 4 years
  • enjoy working with young children,
  • have a patient and engaging teaching style, and an interest in understanding how young children develop musically
  • be available for Saturday classes; position can include additional weekday classes if desired
