DESCRIPTION:Audition Sign Up \nAudition for BMS’ Jazz/Rock Bands and join us for an Open Jam Session after! Students should prepare and bring two works that display the student’s technical facility and improvisational level. All students auditioning should expect to improvise. All students who audition are placed in an ensemble; placement auditions allow us to pair students with others at the same age and experience levels. \nAfter the audition\, join us upstairs for an open jam session highlighting pre-selected charts and student suggestions. Open Jam Charts are available here. Participants can prepare the linked charts but are also welcome to bring something of their own choosing. Originals are always welcome. Be sure to download the correct chart for your instrument!\nB♭ Charts – Clarinet\, Trumpet\, Soprano and Tenor Saxophone\nE♭ Charts – Alto and Baritone Saxophone\, E♭ clarinet\nC/Unlabeled Charts – piano\, guitar\, flute\, violin\, cello\, bass\, etc \nJazz Ensembles Coordinator\, Russ Gershon\, will connect with students about scheduling and registration in the weeks following the auditions as groups are assembled. SUMMARY:Double Reed Master Class with Elizabeth England
DESCRIPTION:Elizabeth England joined the Boston Ballet Orchestra in 2016 as second oboist and English hornist\, balancing her orchestral duties with a vibrant freelance career across New England’s premier ensembles. She is also a member of the acclaimed woodwind quintet Vento Chiaro\, which holds residencies at the Virginia Arts Festival and the Boston University Tanglewood Institute.\n\n\nDedicated to empowering the next generation of oboists\, Ms. England has served on the faculty at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School since 2015. Her teaching studio also includes positions at Brandeis University and Wellesley Public Schools. Additionally\, she shares her expertise through masterclasses at prestigious institutions\, including the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.\n\n\nMs. England is a passionate champion of contemporary music\, frequently performing with leading specialized ensembles such as Sound Icon\, Harvard’s Fromm Players\, and the Callithumpian Consort. In 2019\, she was the featured soloist in Klaus Lang’s oboe concerto with Sound Icon\, and her work is featured on recordings for Navona\, Tzadik\, and Ludovico Ensemble records.
