SUMMARY:Guitar Master Class: Playing Guitar for a Living
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a Guitar Master Class by Alexander Knutsen! \nIn this master class\, Playing Guitar for a Living\, session guitarist and touring sideman Alexander Knutsen will show us what it takes to create guitar parts that  hold up both in the studio and on stage. He will demonstrate how to expand on simple ideas to create the sonic variety and quality necessary for recording\, and in turn reducing these ideas for an effective reproduction in a live setting. We’ll hear isolated guitar parts from some of Alexander’s recent releases\, and he will share simple techniques to help students to  create professional guitar parts instantly. Sit back and enjoy this rare opportunity to get a peek behind the curtain in the world of recording and touring. \nAlexander’s notable collaborators include Charles Haynes (drummer for Ed Sheeran and Lady Gaga)\, Krysta Youngs (songwriter for BTS and Marshmello)\, and Adam Jensen (#1 Billboard Top 20 Artists To Look Out For in 2021). He has toured internationally and has performed on the smallest stages to the Xfinity Center and Gillette Stadium. His mentors include legendary jazz icon Mike Stern and world record-setting drummer Mike Mangini. \nRSVP to observe at: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScjhihYQx0nqyIjCbRWGkASdDmZtnvnRO_xeB0N46ZQzj_2xQ/viewform?usp=header

SUMMARY:Trumpet Master Class with Thomas Siders
DESCRIPTION:Thomas Siders joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Principal/Third Trumpet in January 2010\, and joins the New England Conservatory trumpet faculty as of fall 2011. \n\n\nA native of Champaign\, Illinois\, Siders grew up in a musical family. He began playing the piano at age six and the trumpet at age ten. Siders was fortunate to have terrific trumpet instruction throughout middle school and high school\, studying with Michael Allen\, Sal Percoco\, Ray Sasaki\, and the late Dr. Michael Ewald. He pursued further study with Professor Sasaki at the University of Texas at Austin\, and graduated with high honors in 2007. \nAlthough his first love was jazz\, Siders decided to shift his focus to orchestral trumpet playing. He attended Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music\, where he studied with Marie Speziale. After receiving his master’s degree in 2009\, he joined the New World Symphony in Miami Beach. Mr. Siders was a Tanglewood Music Center fellow in 2008 and 2009\, and was the recipient of the 2009 Voisin Trumpet Award. \nIn May 2009 Siders was a featured performer in the Conservatory Project\, part of the Millennium Stage series at the Kennedy Center in Washington\, D.C. He has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra\, Houston Symphony\, Houston Grand Opera Orchestra\, and the Santa Fe Symphony. \n\nSign Up: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfV3m9C_HlruI66UyqAVW8aHZNKikNu8uSuAejmhZ_BQXZipQ/viewform?usp=sf_link
