TEACHER OF PIANO
Brookline Music School
seeks a teacher of PIANO. Private teaching would focus on – but not be
limited to – working with students 4 to 6 years of age. This position also has
the potential to include teaching group classes and coaching chamber music
ensembles. Teaching takes place primarily at Kennard House, our main location,
with additional instruction in the Brookline Public Schools and other satellite
locations.
Date of appointment: Sept.
2010 with the possibility of summer 2010, if available.
QUALIFICATIONS
Brookline Music School seeks an individual with a proven record of teaching
various age groups who is passionate and committed to growing a studio through
solid pedagogy and recruitment.
Knowledge of
repertoire and performance practice spanning classical, musical theatre and
jazz/pop idioms is essential.
Organizational, communication and interpersonal skills are essential in order to
represent the school to our students’ families. An undergraduate degree in
performance or pedagogy is required; a graduate degree or the equivalent –
demonstrated through teaching and performing experience – is preferred.

TEACHER OF SUZUKI VIOLIN
Brookline
Music School seeks a teacher of SUZUKI VIOLIN who is also capable and
willing to utilize traditional teaching methods for private and group
instruction. Private teaching would include – but not be limited to – working
with students 4 to 6 years of age. This position also has the potential to
include teaching group classes in accordance with the Suzuki Method and coaching
chamber music ensembles. Teaching takes place primarily at Kennard House, our
main location, with additional instruction in the Brookline Public Schools and
other satellite locations.

ABOUT BROOKLINE MUSIC SCHOOL
A private, nonprofit community school for the arts, we are the oldest and
largest cultural institution in Brookline. Founded in 1924 by the Brookline
Public Schools, its original purpose was to enhance school orchestras by
providing music lessons after hours on school premises. BMS became a private
organization in the 1940s and was incorporated as a private, nonprofit school in
